Proposal for professional improvement in Paediatric Cardiology for General Practitioners

Abstract

A research work was carried out in three municipalities of Villa Clara province, from January to June 2005, there were designed upgrading actions to improve the performance of General Practitioners in Primary Health Cares while working with children having cardiological problems. It was carried out an upgrading strategy, a specialised syllabus for GPs, methodological guidelines and a bibliographic revision about this Tepid. Surveys were applied to residents, Integral General Medicine Specialists, Municipality Board Members and cardiopediatricians. There were shown difficulties in the cardio-paediatrics preparation of GPs in Primary Health Cares. This work allowed the elaboration of a Proposal for professional improvement which comprises an upgrading course, a workshop for the exchanging of experiences and methodological guidelines for Integral General Medicine professors. The proposal was valued by experts.
