Abstract

M.D. Fidel Ilizástigui Dupuy, as a professor played an outstanding role in the academic transformations carried out in Cuba after the triumph of the revolution. The objective of this work is to value Dr. Ilizástigui´s criteria in respect to the changes in the curriculum of the Medicine career since 1995. It was carried out a documentary analysis of the text” Educación Médica y necesidades de salud poblacional”. The results are shown by means of the complete reproduction of fragments and through the comments of the authors. The talent of this prestigious professor let him grasp the transformations in the medical education according to the requirements of the professional practice and the tendencies of higher education. Dr.  Ilizástigui´s medical thought about education are present on the theoretical-methodological basis of the curricular changes and they support the educational researching activity in health sciences.
