Abstract

The Medical Informatics I subject is taught at Villa Clara university of Medical Sciences since the academic year 1997-1998. Its objective is to prepare the students to assimilate the new tendencies in the development of computing systems for the health management and the increasing role of the informatics technology in current medical diagnosis & treatments.  A descriptive, retrospective study was carried out to characterize the assessment process in the Medical Informatics I subject, in the first term of the academic year2011-2012. Through the review of the subject file could be stated that the teaching staff established a proper relationship among the objectives-contents-assessment components, all the members of the staff participated in the elaboration and marking of the evaluations planned and methodological guidelines were elaborated to organize and carry out each evaluation and the necessary materials were previously guaranteed for the development of the independent work of the students.
