Abstract

This article deals with the professional development of teachers in medical universities and presents some considerations about their potential and current requirements. Reference is made to postgraduate training as an option for the development of human resources, as it contributes to improving the knowledge and skills they need to perform better in their responsibilities and duties in the fields of teaching, medical care, management and research. It reflects on the need to turn the professional development of university teachers into a priority, in order to achieve quality standards and academic excellence.
