Abstract

The Mártires del 9 de Abril Hospital, in Sagua la Grande, has gained prestige as a teaching-care unit in the territory because of the comprehensive training of its professionals. A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted in order to describe the role of the hospital in the training of human resources. The registration books of the courses and databases from different departments were reviewed. Tables and graphs were devised, displaying the following results: the training process has achieved recognition and represents an important element in achieving quality education for all, raising the overall culture of future professionals and the general population. Some difficulties were found, which require new forms, methods and learning styles that would allow the organization of the educational process with emphasis on the identification of real and potential needs of students and teachers.
