Abstract

The article presents the experience of implementing innovative pedagogical strategies aimed at strengthening communicative competence in English among medical students in Cuba. Methodologies such as Project-Based Learning and gamification were incorporated, promoting active and contextualized learning in clinical and scientific settings. The interventions made it possible to identify limitations in oral fluency, including pronunciation difficulties, insufficient mastery of specialized vocabulary, and the presence of communication anxiety. Preliminary findings show that these strategies enhance motivation, participation, and greater spontaneity in oral expression in English. It is concluded that the integration of Project-Based Learning and gamification constitutes an effective approach to optimizing oral fluency in medical contexts, with the purpose of consolidating communicative competence in English through innovative strategies tailored to professional training and fostering more autonomous learning.
