Abstract

Nosocomial infections are an extremely important health problem all over the world that affect the quality and efficiency of the medical services. A qualitative descriptive study was carried out to characterized the medical and paramedical staff knowledge at the Placetas General Teaching hospital on these infections during the period between 2005-2007.
It was used a non probabilistic, intentional and by saturation sample which is characteristic of this kind of study. As a distintictive aspect there was found that the level of knowledge on these infections was inadequate and it is proved an association between the level of knowledge detected and the existing difficulties on the nosocomial infections register at the institution. It is being elaborated a course according to the deficiencies detected which was valorated by the specialists as necessary and updated.
