Learning objects for teaching Dentistry y in distance learning

Abstract

Background: the creation of powerful repositories of learning objects constitutes a challenge for teachers in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Objective: to design learning objects that integrate the necessary information on different subject topics for fourth-year students of the Dentistry degree in distance learning.
Methods: a technological development research was carried out at Camagüey Faculty of Dentistry of in the period from April to June 2020. Theoretical, empirical and mathematical statistical methods were used. The eXeLearning 2.3.1 program was used to create the learning objects. The products were evaluated according to the criteria of students and specialists.
Results: learning objects were created for the Comprehensive Family Care II and III, Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics subjects, which contributed to the academic performance of the students, who, for the most part, highlighted their positive aspects.
Conclusions: the learning objects were very useful for the distance learning teaching process of Dentistry students; they contributed to the development of intellectual abilities, motivation and the assimilation of contents in an affordable way. They were valued by specialists in the category Very suitable for use in teaching.
