Abstract

The World Health Organization and the Pan American Health Organization agree in recognizing the value of physical activity to contribute to the achievement of several of the Sustainable Development Goals included in the 2030 Agenda; it is considered essential for human development, health and well-being at different ages. In correspondence with this, physical recreation activities constitute spaces for popular participation that allow the professionals involved in this process to carry out their work of prevention and health promotion with emphasis on their contribution to the physical and mental development of their practitioners. It is the authors' objective to communicate about the benefits of recreational and physical-recreational activities from the university extension, where children between 11 and 12 years old participate in the community setting as a means of training and promoting healthy lifestyle habits.
