Abstract

Background: educational software has revolutionized traditional pedagogy towards new teaching models where space, time and resources for learning are not limited.
Objective: to design a website as bibliographic support for the study of the subject Epidemiology in Stomatology.
Methods: a technological innovation investigation was carried out at the Faculty of Stomatology of the University of Medical Sciences of Villa Clara between January and May 2018. Theoretical methods were used: historical-logical, analysis-synthesis and induction-deduction; Empirical: documentary analysis, questionnaire survey and interviews with key informants, in addition to the programs: Notepad ++, Paint, Photoshow, Microsoft Office PowerPoint and Wondershare Photo Story Platinum for the preparation of the website. The assessment of specialists and users was applied to determine the effectiveness of the product.
Results: an initial diagnosis was made that served as a starting point in the design of a bibliographic support for the subject Epidemiology: “EpidemioWeb”, with the contents that were dispersed in several formats, with which its integration was achieved and the student learning
Conclusions: it was evaluated by specialists as a functional material, for its practical utility, relevance, vocabulary used, the appropriate selection of the tools used and their possibilities of interaction as a computer product. According to the criteria of the students as users, the product is acceptable.
