Factors which are in relation to academic efficiency in the subjects clinic I and II

Introduction: The academic efficiency has been defined as the accomplishment of goals and objectives which are established in the syllabuses and subjects of a student´s curriculum, where different factors take place. From a practical point of view this indicator has been limited to assign a qualitative or a quantitative mark, it isn´t satisfactory in many cases, which influences in the loosing of contents, academic mortality or even desertion. Objective: To characterize the academic efficiency of a group of students of the National Program for the Formation of Integral Community Medicine through the subjects clinic I and II in the Carvajal municipality in the Anzoátegui State in the 2009-2010 academic year: Materials and Methods. The universe is composed by 32 students. It was carried out a descriptive, retrospective study to characterize the academic efficiency. There were applied the qualitative and quantitative approaches and there were applied theoretical and empirical methods and statistic procedures and the information was contrasted. Outcomes: There is a strong connection between academic efficiency and age as it is shown by surveys. The predominant group was females aged over 25, 37.6% are single, 56.2 % have children and 53.1% have low economical incomes, 27 students out of the sample were apart from studies for a long time, they represent 84.3 %.Conclusions: Socio-economic factors were identified which make a negative influence upon the academic efficiency, during the teaching-learning process of the subjects clinic I and II.
