The teaching of Nursing in Sagua la Grande municipality. (From1965 to 2004)

Abstract

A retrospective descriptive study was carried out on the Nursing formative process of Sagua la Grande municipality, where the historical-logical method was applied. It is elaborated a brief synthesis about the beginnings of Nursing and other facts associated to the formation of the different formative processes of Licensed Practical Nurses and the Bachelor in Nursing, as well as the preparation of Licensed Practical Nurses in other nationalities. A documental analysis was carried out on the student´s registers files, the teaching-learning process documents, and a paper about the history of the school. Professors and founding personnel were interviewed. At present, the “Lidia Doce” Nursing School has become the Health University Site of Sagua la Grande municipality and it is the center that leads the scientific and the methodological formation as well as the improvement of the health sciences technicians and professionals in the northern part of the province.
