Abstract

In the world summits about medical education it has been stated the necessity to develop medicine professors to better this type of education. Specifically, the area of the basic biomedical sciences faces a great challenge to achieve its teaching with an integrating approach in Cuba. A pedagogical research work was carried out with the objective to identify the specific characteristics of the professor´s preparation process in Sancti Spirits Faculty of Medical Sciences. Theoretical and empirical methods were used. There were identified the insufficiencies in the mastery of contents and in the didactic knowledge of the teaching-learning process of these sciences, particularly in the integrating approach, and in the systematic methodological work of the preparation of the corresponding subjects. It is concluded that the identified necessities require of scientifically designed upgrading strategies due to their complexity.
