Percepción de la responsabilidad social universitaria en estudiantes de Estomatología de una universidad pública peruana

Background: University Social Responsibility (USR) is a key component for strengthening ethical, civic, and professional training in higher education.
Objective: To determine the perception of university social responsibility among Dentistry students from a public Peruvian university.
Methods: A quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional, non-experimental study was conducted. The sample consisted of 95 students from the 4th to the 12th academic cycle enrolled in the 2025-II academic period at the School of Dentistry of the National University of Trujillo, selected through non-probabilistic convenience sampling. The University Social Responsibility Survey developed by Vallaeys et al. was administered in person; it evaluates the axes of Responsible Campus, Professional and Civic Training, and Social Participation. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics in SPSS v.26.
Results: Most students reported a good perception in the Responsible Campus and Professional and Civic Training axes, as well as an adequate perception in the Social Participation axis. No significant differences were found by age or sex; however, a significant association was identified between academic cycle and perception in the Professional and Civic Training axis (p = 0.027).
Conclusion: The findings show that students recognize institutional efforts to promote USR, particularly in professional training and social participation, reflecting coherence between the university’s mission and the educational experiences they receive.
