Abstract

Background: in the conditions of today's world, violence is generally imposed as the only way to solve conflicts, so it is essential to form a culture of peace in the training of university students.
Objective: to show the experiences on the application of actions aimed at the promotion of a culture of peace in the process of humanistic formation in university students.
Methods: an action research with a qualitative approach was developed at the “Félix Varela” Pedagogical Headquarters during 2016. Theoretical methods were applied: historical-logical, analytical-synthetic and inductive-deductive; and empirical: participant observation, complete sentences and the pedagogical test.
Results: according to the diagnosis, physical violence was not predominant among the students; however, other manifestations that led to discussions, dislikes and mismanagement of social relations were found; Therefore, actions were taken with the objective of fostering a culture of peace between them. They involved both students and teachers, among them the variety predominated to arouse motivation in its execution, and both the curricular spaces and those of the university extension were used.
Conclusions: the experiences generated were positive and contributed to modify the initial state of student behavior, and to the methodological preparation of teachers regarding the formation of a culture of peace.
