Abstract

The postgraduate improvement of philosophy teachers at the Medical Sciences University in Villa Clara, in the use of scientific information as well as communication and information technologies was the object of this investigation. The main needs of these teachers in the efficient use of electronic scientific information were identified and then a three-level improvement action system was prepared which included: basic, middle and high levels. Its theoretical-methodological support is the acquisition of the main informational competences that a current professional requires. The improvement actions were made through a group of general, organizational and didactic actions that take up three forms of postgraduate improvement (workshop, scientific sessions, and training) which are integrated as part of the teaching-methodological strategy of the Philosophy Department of this University, and aims at positively changing the current situation.
