Sufficiency of scientific articles for inclusion in online academic processes in Human Medicine

Background: given the potential increase in the publication of scientific articles as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is necessary to determine whether they are sufficient to be included in the academic management of Human Medicine students.
Objective: to determine whether scientific articles on health are sufficient to manage the inclusion of their content in the online academic management of Human Medicine students.
Methods: a qualitative documentary research study was conducted at “César Vallejo” University in Peru through a data and analysis review in Scopus. Theoretical methods such as analysis-synthesis, induction-deduction and historical-logical were applied; documentary analysis of articles as empirical methods applying the variables: number of publications by area of knowledge, semantics in the theoretical-conceptual approach to online evaluation, predominant types of articles and the new paradigms emerging in distance education.
Results: articles were published primarily in the social sciences, health (including medical sciences), computer science and engineering. Most of them were published in 2021 with topics related to COVID-19. Original articles are prominent and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are emerging as a paradigm and revolutionizing digitalized open education.
Conclusions: the number of articles whose content can be evaluated in Human Medicine is sufficient in terms of quantity and content, level of updating and predominance of scientific research. It is essential to take advantage of open distance learning courses including relevant assessment methods for the purposes of this research.
